My surprising sales strategy session with ChatGPT...
Many sales teams are using ChatGPT to generate content for emails, proposals, etc. However, it can be a powerful tool for strategic guidance. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty darn good.
To illustrate this, I recently tested ChatGPT in a fictitious sales scenario. I asked for input on sales value propositions in an industry where I lack expertise.
I’ve only scratched the surface in this example but notice how you can reframe questions to get various nuances and how you can keep drilling deeper into individual points to gain more insight and perspective.

ChatGPT
Congratulations on your new sales territory! Freight forwarders typically have several key needs when it comes to logistics software:
Efficiency and Automation: Freight forwarders deal with a high volume of shipments and transactions daily. They need software that streamlines processes, automates repetitive tasks, and reduces manual data entry to improve overall efficiency.
Visibility and Tracking: Providing real-time visibility into shipments is crucial for freight forwarders to track the movement of goods, manage inventory, and keep customers informed. Software that offers robust tracking and tracing capabilities is highly valued.
Integration with Other Systems: Freight forwarders often use a variety of software and tools for different aspects of their operations, such as warehouse management systems, transportation management systems, and customer relationship management software. Compatibility and integration capabilities with these existing systems are essential for seamless operations.
Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: The logistics industry is subject to various regulations and compliance standards, both domestic and international. Software that helps freight forwarders stay compliant with these regulations, such as customs documentation and trade compliance, is critical.
Cost Management: Cost control and optimization are top priorities for freight forwarders. They look for software solutions that help them minimize costs, whether through optimizing routes, reducing inventory holding costs, or improving resource utilization.
To position your software effectively and provide competitive value, you can emphasize the following:
Customization and Scalability: Highlight how your software can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each freight forwarder, whether they are a small local operation or a large multinational corporation. Emphasize scalability to accommodate growth and changes in the business.
Advanced Analytics and Reporting: Showcase how your software offers powerful analytics and reporting capabilities that provide valuable insights into key performance metrics, enabling freight forwarders to make data-driven decisions and optimize their operations.
